When should I switch to an Energy Freedom Home?

You have got your head around the concept of an Energy Freedom Home, you know how to get an Energy Freedom Home and you have a draft roadmap in mind to get there...but when is the best time to start? And how long will it take?
If you are unsure about what an Energy Freedom Home is, check out this article. Not sure what is involved? Read this first. Confused about your priorities? This will help.

When should I start?

If you have the cash to pay for upgrades or you have access to affordable credit, then you can get started straight away. The financial benefits are significant and immediate and they accumulate the sooner that upgrades are completed.

You'll also experience greater home comfort as soon as upgrades are done; the sooner you get cracking, the sooner those cold winters and hot summers will seem more manageable.

The exception to this advice? If you have other home improvement projects planned. Try to sync them up with the Energy Freedom Home retrofit upgrades.

It'll be easier, for example, to insulate inside your walls if you are planning to replace your existing weatherboards. Or to install an induction cooktop if you are renovating your kitchen.

How long will it take?

Up until recently, getting an Energy Freedom Home was a journey that took years of dedicated effort1 2 3.

Between all the research, figuring out what to do, comparing products, vetting suppliers and coordinating the different trades, you can understand why only the most dedicated homeowners achieved an Energy Freedom Home.

Fortunately, now companies like Energy Freedom Homes are offering a one-stop shop service where they've done all the work so that homeowners don't have to and a process that previously took years can now be completed in a matter of weeks.

The journey to your Energy Freedom Home

It seems complicated, but when you break it down the journey to an Energy Freedom Home is straightforward and can begin immediately.

Every home is different, but it's easy to figure out a plan to achieve lower energy bills, improved home comfort and health, and better outcomes for the environment. You can do this by customising a generalised roadmap based on upgrades that have already been completed, or that don't apply to your circumstances, and those still to be completed.
